On February 15, 2022, Mary Ann Ruiz hosted the Honorable Lourdes Simon, Circuit Judge in the Civil Division for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in and for Miami-Dade County, Florida, for Table for Eight event for the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (MDFAWL).
The event took place at Zucca in Coral Gables, Florida, where MDFAWL members enjoyed an intimate dinner with Judge Simon. The members discussed the highlights and challenges they faced transitioning from criminal to civil division, both as judges and as lawyers. Members also shared their unique experiences litigating as women.
Since 2019, Ms. Ruiz has been an active member of MDFAWL, where she currently serves as Co-Chair of the State and Federal Courts and Investitures Committee. She is an ardent supporter of Miami-Dade County’s judiciary and organizes monthly Table for Eight events with judiciary of the county, state, and appellate courts.
